What the free run is actually for
Free is one run per core tool each month, no card. Speech, burned-in OCR, translation, dubbing, covers, and scripts each have that one pass. The file stays in the browser. It is not sent to a public processing pool.
Keep the free file short and clear. Free stops at about 15 minutes. MP4, MOV, AVI, and MKV are the formats; aim under 200MB, and only try 300–500MB if you already know the machine can hold it. Pick speech or OCR, not both — see speech or OCR.
Closing the page after a run spends that month’s listen. Do not spend it finding out whether a noisy room needed Enhanced.
Stay in the browser when
- One speaker, quiet room, under a quarter hour.
- You already have an SRT and only need a restyle or one translation. Import it and skip recognition: import SRT.
- You are learning the loop: review names, line length, and timing, then export. The ten-minute path is captions in ten minutes.
That is a publishable cut without a workstation.
Open Plus when the file or the month does not fit
Plus is $20 a month for unlimited caption and audio on a dedicated cloud workstation. You bind an account, connect, and open this site inside that machine. The workstation is not a shared pool. Files stay there across a renewal.
Use it when the cut is longer than the free cap, when you need a second or a fifth listen in the same month, or when dubbing and a burn-in have to happen on the same clock without rationing the free pass. Mix audio before you burn in, as in SRT or burn-in.
An unused connection can be refunded within seven days, as described on Pricing. Do not buy Plus to “store the footage in the cloud” as a backup. Buy it when the browser run cannot finish the job.
A sentence before you press run
If this file is the one you will publish, and it fits fifteen minutes, stay in the studio. If you already used this month’s caption run, or the timeline is longer than the free cap, open the workstation first. A wasted free listen is a month. A workstation you do not need is a bill.
